ATV’S BELT IT OUT AT BLUE ROCK MX COMPLEX

With the last round of the ATV Super 8 Series held out at the Blue Rock Motocross Circuit, the Riders and their quads were fully charged.

The track was quite technical with some good whoops, which proved a handful for many as they crossed up and came unstuck.

The Pro Riders used their last race chance to prepare for the up and coming Yamaha Australia 2007 Australian Quad Motocross Championships in November. Yamaha rider Anthony Dellios really took in his stride to prove to everyone that he was there for business.
Dellios commented “ The track was in really good condition and held up well. It was a great challenge with lots of downhill off corner cambers. I’m very pleased with the way I rode but still need to work on my bike fitness”

Once again the Expert riders stepped up the challenge with the Pro and Expert race being combined. Honda rider Darryl Watson put in a solid performance taking the holseshot in the 1st moto leaving Susuki rider Aaron Ovens to chase followed closely by Expert rider Cameron Wade. Barry Francis Suzuki rider Paul Smith launched his quad showing the spectators his style as he doubled through the whoops. Watson held off the rest of the field keeping his 1st place, Smith had his work cut out for him after a slow start but managed to work his way through the field coming a convincing 2nd and Ovens finished 3rd.

In the 2nd and 3rd moto Dellios kicked up the pace pulling off the holshot in both races. The Suzuki team had a few hiccups leaving them to swap and change their bikes. Unfortunately for Smith there was no bike left for the last moto of the day however that did not affect his championship points with his huge lead. The Expert riders proved they were a force to be reckoned with as Amo Mason took 1st place in the 2nd moto with Jay Chandler, Cameron Wade and Tait Ovens finishing in good top positions.

Overall in the Pro Class Dellios took home 1st place followed by Watson in 2nd and Ovens in 3rd.

For the 1st time in quad history the Junior riders in the 300cc class had a 3 way tie leaving the trophies to be handed out on a count back. Yamaha rider Mitch Van Vliet had a major get off with his quad landing on top of him. Once back on he managed to catch the field and finish the race in 3rd place. Yamaha rider Adam Larson had the race of his life throwing all caution out to the wind in the 3rd moto never giving up to take out his first 1st place. Van Vliet was absolutely thrilled for him giving him a huge embrace out on the track. These Junior riders are certainly showing the senior riders their skill and agility warning them of what’s to come when they step up onto the 450 ATV machines next year.
Overall Larson came 1st, Van Vliet in 2nd and Jonothan Wade in 3rd which meant that Van Vliet held onto his overall Championship win for the season.

At the other end of the scale not to be outshone is the Vets 35 and over characters whom all are there for the glory of the win. Can Am rider Rick Beer along with Yamaha rider Rob Van Vliet showed with their consistency they are still in for the chase. Honda rider Rodney Scale showed his presence taking out all 3 motos. Jeff Larson and Phil Ede were having the battle of a lifetime for overall 3rd place in the QRCV Super 8 Series and Darren Schnoor along with Dean Poke put in brilliant performances showing the crowd they still meant business.
Overall Scale was in 1st, Beer in 2nd and Van Vliet managed to hold onto 3rd.

The Womens class was a bit down in numbers but still put on a stunning performance for the spectators to cheers. Australian Champion Jeanette Lindsay put in her best knowing this was her last chance to race before the Australian Championships. Yamaha rider Vicky Eden also stepped up the pace strutting her style all over the track with her head down and elbows up.

It was great to see new comer to the Jumbo Junior Class Pete Wilhelms pull off 3 straight wins to take out his first 1st place trophy. Petes’ hand gestures to the rest of the field certainly kept the other competitors hot on his heels.

With the Australian Championships looming so close, it was great to see all riders putting in an extreme performance. With the generosity and support of sponsors there will be no doubt that this years Australian Quad Motocross Championships will be supreme in competition. Now that ATV racing is having a huge impact on the entire motocross scene, racing at the Maffra / Sale Motorcycle Complex will certainly be a thrilling event to watch in November.
