2ND ROUND ATV SUPER SERIES 8 SUCCESSFUL FOR ALL AT COLAC

Written by TJ Elliott

Colac proved to be a tight technical track with all riders having to put in as best they could to ride the track. Even Pro rider Adam Siemensma saw the under carriage of his quad as he went over the handlebars with the quad flipping over the top of him in the 3rd race. After battling it out for 1st place podium it was the only thing that came between the very competitive racing between Smith and Siemensma. Not to be out done, Shaun Barry managed to be pinned under his quad after being flung off the front.
Siemensma won the 1st moto convincingly but 2nd moto went to Smith after a very close tussle between the 2 experienced riders
Aaron Ovens is still definitely a contender holding off Smith and Siemensma for 5 laps of the first 15minute moto leaving Smith and Siemensma to have their own battle slowly reeling in Ovens. It was great to see Ovens up on the podium with 3rd place leaving Siemensma with 2nd after his fall and Smith getting 1st

The Vets class is becoming a very popular and demanding race so it was great to see local Colac rider Jeff Larson up in the pointy end of the field. Jeff, taking out the holeshot, must have had quite a few of the riders taking a second look to see the mighty man in front. Larson managed to keep Rob Van Vliet eating his dust right up until the last lap where Van Vliet managed to pass Larson in the last minutes of the race giving Van Vliet the win. After 3 straight wins Van Vliet took his first 1st place trophy, Larson with 2nd and Dean Poke with 3rd.

Victorian Champion rider Jeanette Lindsay once again came up against NSW rider Patricia Bartley and SA rider Amanda Watson to battle it out for the positions. Bartley got caught up in a tangle leaving Lindsay and Watson to take 1st and 2nd effortlessly with young rider Natalie Ross definitely in contention bringing in 3rd place. Bartley came back in full force giving the other women a good contest between the entire field, however, Lindsay took out the straight wins giving Watson 2nd place and Bartley bringing in 3rd.

Junior racing is getting more and more fierce with the talents of Mitchell Van Vliet, Jonathon Wade and Adam Larson riding full noise giving their 200cc quads the hardest of times clearing jumps like they were little mounds of dirt. With the pace the boys are setting, Mitch and Jon are definitely letting the seniors know that next year they will be there in full force hot on their heels if not in front.
Not to forget the future Champions, the 90cc and 50cc class are also staring down the line of one day becoming Pro riders themselves.

Clubman once again had a huge turn out. New comer Justin Agosta definitely was there for business as he pulled off 3 very convincing wins. Paul Von Stanke saw the funny side of racing as he managed to keep his quad up on 2 wheels down the straight and it was good to see Jack McLaren back racing showing that he still is in contention coming 3rd in the 1st moto.

The show stopper of the day went to the Jumbo Junior Class with Vet riders Phil Ede and Rob Van Vliet letting young rider Pete Wilhelms know that they mean business out on the track. After being bumped, roosted and elbowed Pete came back into the pits with a huge smile but a not so happy quad. Pete, being the great competitor he is, has assured the crowd he will be back in full force, bigger and faster, to give the old timers a run for their money.
