QRCV
SUPER SERIES 8, ROUND 1, ACT, REPORT
With the first round QRCV Super Series under our belt it
was a great start to the season up in Canberra with over 70
entries. With thanks to Rick and Terri Beer we were able to
conduct practice on the Saturday with most riders taking up
this opportunity.
The track proved to be very technical and hard packed with
lots of tight corners.
Sundays racing went off without a hitch. It was great to
see so many of the Victorian riders making the effort to travel
up north and support the club. NSW and QLD joined us in our
racing, which was just fantastic, and they managed to take
home quite a few trophies.
Smith and Siemensma our local Vic Pro riders were joined
by Worth and Roycroft from NSW and Sherlock from QLD. Once
again they put on a spectacle showing the other riders what
these quads can do. After much lead swapping which was marvellous
to watch since the track was so narrow in parts, the final
points went down to Smith bringing in 1st place, Worth 2nd
and Siemensma in 3rd. Aaron Ovens has definitely stepped up
the pace and gave the other riders a run for their money coming
in an extremely close 4th.
It was great to see the Womens class so well represented
with Bartley from NSW, Gardiner from QLD and National champion
Lindsay from Vic. Jeanette Lindsay managed a DNF in the first
round with mechanical problems which looked like giving the
1st round away to the interstate competitors. In the second
race both Patricia Bartley and Angela Gardiner connected and
wedged their quads together so tight that it took 5 burly
blokes to pull them apart giving both riders a no score. Victorian
rider Vicky Eden now had the 1st place trophy in her site
which caused great excitement in the crowd. Eden just had
to come home safe and the trophy was hers, in all the excitement
she threw in a huge no footer heel clicker which even shocked
herself but the 1st place trophy was hers to keep. Vicky Eden
gave her colorful speech that will go down in history, Bartley
came second with a very close third going to Lindsay.
Young rider Mitch Van Vliet, along with Jon Wade, definitely
are proving a force to contend with showing amazing speed
and skill on their Blasters. Not far behind are the 90cc riders
putting on a great show between Daniel Middleton, Kristopher
Sabbatucci, Harrrison Van Vliet and Ben Wade. It was great
to see new comers Chloe and Michael Beer put in a fantastic
effort for their first race of the season on their home track.
The 50cc Division 2 riders were just as inspiring with their
skill and agility throwing their little quads around the technical
track.
Another rider who has stepped up the pace is Jason Pope on
his YFZ450 taking overall 1st place in the Production class
with Brendan Gina and Anthony Parsons never giving up the
chase. Expert and Clubman were well represented with over
16 riders who tasselled it out through the tight course. With
much consistency Chris Marks won the Clubman class, 2nd going
to Ian Haggie of NSW and 3rd to Brett Rowe
Overall a very pleasing day with lots of happy riders taking
home some great trophies.
