Polaris Announces Professional
ATV Racing Team
Polaris announces second racer
You’ve already heard it on the grapevine and now it’s
official – Polaris will launch a
professional ATV racing team for the 2008 season.
The ink has just dried on a deal with Luke Beechey Motorsports
for Luke Beechey and one other racer to participate on behalf
of Polaris in every major ATV event on the Australian calendar.
The team will operate under the banner of Polaris Racing Team
and will be managed by Luke Beechey Motorsports.
Generating huge interest in the industry has been who will
ride shotgun with Beechey for the
2008 season. After a comprehensive consultation and interview
process, we can now reveal the second racer will be none other
than Drysdale-based (Victoria) racer Aaron Ovens.
Polaris is confident that putting two of the fastest racers
in the country on the fastest bikes will deliver huge results
for Polaris and Luke Beechey Motorsports in 2008.
If you haven’t heard of Luke Beechey, you’ve probably
been living under a rock. One of the most well known and marketable
commodities in the ATV industry is proud to now be sitting
his ass on a Polaris.
After a successful career racing ATVs in Australia, Luke headed
to America in 2006 to
compete full time in some of America’s premier ATV meets.
After taking 2007 off to
concentrate on developing his business interests with Luke
Beechey Motorsports, Beechey is back in the saddle and determined
to come back faster and more confident than ever before to
not only win races, but help promote ATV riding in Australia.
“I’m just thrilled to have formed this partnership
with Polaris,” the delighted 26-year-old said.
“The 2008 Outlaw range is second to none in the industry,
and I’m sure we will deliver some huge results in 2008.”
“This partnership, though, is about much more than winning
races. We’re working to really put ATV racing on the
map in Australia as a legitimate sport and recreation option,
and lift the profile of the industry as a whole.
“The support Polaris is providing is unprecedented in
the industry and we’re hoping other
manufacturers will follow suit to support not only individual
racers, but the sport and
recreational sides of ATV riding.
“We face many hurdles in Australia such as land access
for riding ATVs, and we’re hoping the profile we gain
from this venture will assist in making inroads for all ATV
riders.”
Similarly, 25-year-old Aaron Ovens has proven himself as one
of the nation’s brightest up-and coming racers over
past seasons, with solid performances and a positive attitude
shining through in his results.
Due to be wed in coming weeks, there will be no honeymoon
hangover for Ovens, who will
have his backside on a Polaris early in the new year to ensure
he is ready to roll for season
2008. Among notable results in 2007, Ovens stormed home to
win the 1st Colac MX series, put in a stellar effort to run
second at the Victorian ATV MX Super Series 8 and only narrowly
missed the podium at the Victorian Championships. However,
one of his defining moments was undoubtedly finishing in second
place in the gruelling Tattersalls Finke Desert Race this
year.
Luke Beechey Motorsports will compete on behalf of Polaris
at every major meet on the
Australian calendar, including the Australian ATV Nationals,
the Victorian State ATV MX
Championships, the Queensland State ATV MX Championships,
the Finke Desert Race,
select family and ride days and select supermotard races.
The team at Luke Beechey Motorsports will also include a strong
support crew, including
mechanics and well-known ATV identities Hugh Smith and Victor
Bonacci. So impressed are these guys with the 2008 Polaris
range, that they’re both currently in negotiations to
get their own bum on a Polaris.
And the news at Polaris just doesn’t stop. The company
has just signed on as major sponsor of the Quad Riders Club
of Victoria for the 2008 season, with some exciting joint
ventures already in the pipeline that will whet the appetites
of ATV riders across the state.
This news comes on the back of the announcement of Polaris’
revolutionary 2008 sports
range, including the Outlaw 525 IRS, Outlaw 525 straight axle,
and the race-ready, straight
axle Outlaw 450 MXR.
All three Outlaw models come packing heat, with the championship-proven
pedigree of a KTM engine making them the fastest-accelerating,
most dialled-in line of sports quad ever.
Light-weight with massive midrange torque and roll-on acceleration,
the Outlaw 450 MXR
packs the power with a 4-stroke, 448cc KTM engine and breathes
out through a Keihin 39mm FCR carburetor.
The Fox Podium shocks on the front and rear provide superior
stability and performance on both the trails and the track,
with dual A-arm suspension with 25.4cm travel up front and
mono-shock swing-arm suspension with 28cm travel at the rear.
Dual-piston brakes and standard premium brake calipers provide
awesome braking
performance, while the self-adjusting hydraulic clutch is
smooth and easy to pull.
The Outlaw 450 MXR comes complete with 5-speed manual transmission
including a reverse switch, along with MAXXIS RZR front and
rear tyres and spun aluminum wheels.
